Hi - I'm James, and I have helping people get their online presence working for 15 years. I nowadays specialise in building websites with a strong social networking slant. I like to bridge the gap between technology and business or marketing plans. I have found that the best systems to use for this are Drupal and WordPress. Drupal is better for more complex site, sites that need to be large in scale as well as sites that integrate with Facebook and iPhone applications. WordPress is better for simple sites that need to be completed quickly and blog sites.

I have been creating websites since 1995 and have been using Linux systems since the same date. after going to Cambridge University to read mathematics, I went to work in the city for about 10 years. I then spent three years in the Philippines working in the BPO sector, where I learnt about using Drupal and WordPress as well as how a range of skills to help projects grow online. The Philippines is one of the leading countries in the world for social networking including Facebook and twitter and it has been great to couple enthusiasm with cutting edge technology.

I am now based in London, and I am working with advertising agencies, PR agencies and other groups interested in building communities online. it has been interesting to learn how to move into a third sector after banking and outsourcing, hand to learn about the different challenges from using the technology in new and surprising places.
